i had a long weekend all to myself, and well, work as company..

until cat, ericia and terence decided to drive by and pick me up to inject something-something into my non-existent social life for the weekend...

my weekend was simple. i read the papers, did my work stuff, detoxed and had plenty of good rest. i cancelled out on friends for appointments due to work and missed out a bit on the social front.

but all was good. real good in fact. pardon me if i hadnt been answering calls. i think i received quite a few missed calls and i hadnt been getting around to replying them. im sorry!

so it was late last night when cat phoned... she asked if i wanted supper but my stomach was full of liquid but i agreed to one anyway - i'll just watch them eat.

but we proceeded to balcony instead. well never mind the service, i've nothing against balcony except that i always get weird western guys getting a bit too friendly there. i think its like the protocol there. all the foreigners hang out at balcony into the wee hours.

a girl decided to play with fire after a few drinks. but she only managed to "fire once" despite many tries. we chortled as we caught the girl who cant lit a fire with the lighter. and i caught the only picture of her 'lighting up'.

her proudest moment caught on camera.

i was saying i went on a detox and couldnt eat anything else so i ordered chamomile tea. for 10 bucks and more, they served up dilmah. i hated it already.

looking very out of place in that tray was my much-hated dilmah tea.

terence the brown is official, even his namecard says so. im not kidding - it read Terence "The Brown" Oh. i think its a novel way of introducing himself to his clients! Oh, and Oh being his last name of course ;).

loving the shot with the brown dude. im lightening up a fair bit here so it offers more contrast ;) haha!

long weekend coming to a closure. i hope you guys had a wild time. and of course, i'll be back with more "overdue" pictures once i've time to post another entry.

taa!

Ps: GID! if you're reading this, please dont forget about our Lee Hom concert!

in 5 years' time...

it was just announced by our MM Lee that the world economy will need that amount of time to recover even without involving the bank scandal.

interestingly.
he also touched on "assortative mating" (which i was more interested in actually) i.e. going out with someone at your level.

he said: "I have explained this. I think I lost votes after I explained the awful truth. Nobody believed it, but slowly it dawned on them, especially the graduates, that yes, you marry a non—graduate, then you worry about whether or not your son or daughter is going to make it to the university."

i hadnt expected the senior minister to be so upfront like that and while i agree to a certain extent, i felt that perhaps i was more exposed to smart people whom have not had the opportunity to go through the school system at an advanced level. but once again, this is a personal issue and i've known graduates going out with non-graduates. i've also heard of a uni graduate marrying a non- uni graduate (they appeared on tv together and it must also be noted that the uni graduate wifey was prominently more outspoken when being interviewed).

also, when i mentioned smart people, i don't mean them as book-smart but street-smart. i've known some book-smart people and i agree they are highly intelligent being and holds an intellectually meaningful conversation but in all honesty, they cant beat the street smart people i know who can be incredibly book-smart too if that happens to be their key interest.

on the same social front, our neighbour across the causeway hasnt been very clean in their milk products. and ack! nissin cup noodles were being recalled too due to insecticide scandal. they were my sis' once beloved midnight supper supplies. she planned to throw them out when i showed her the article.

why is the world like that?

in bad times like this, well, go organic go!

there. a quickie (update) when i've got the time. it's back to my work for now. oh and on another note, what a quiet quiet sunday! no rain, hurrah! and apologies to my friends who has been asking me out but whom i hasnt been spending this long weekend with.

...im effectively wondering about what will it be like for me and the people i know in 5 years' time.

what makes me tick

i could fool the whole world but never thyself. denial... used to be my biggest weakness.

guess i did the right thing by not returning those missed calls that fateful morning. am convinced i made the right decision.

sometimes i talk to myself; im not mental, im gearing my mental strength for crash landing. i can never be heartless enough and never will be, touch me and you'll know how soft my insides are. actually, dont.

the stronger my mind, the less i try to fool it. they say you cant hoodwink a woman and get away with it lightly. lie to a smart and intelligent woman and expect to be guilt tripped.

it's all in the past. its history. im clearer about it each time. good for me, at least i know where to invest my feelings.

that feeling of yore doesnt make me tick anymore... what makes me tick? oh plenty. food used to be my happy place but now im making effort to lead a vastly healthier lifestyle, my previous diet and lifestyle didnt do me any good and caused a slew of health problems.

balance is key. for example, you have a craving for fried food and compensate with chilled juice (supposed to be healthy) but hey cold drinks create what you call a sludge in the intestinal tracts when they react with oil aka fried food. so technically, people are short of killing themselves slowly. thats why cancer rates increase steadily annually. it didnt used to be that way 20 years ago.

good healthy makes me tick.

good skin makes my day. nobody likes having breakouts or acne all the time. not even if you're lucky to be with a guy who is mad enough to tell you your pimple looks cute. because it does not.

seeing my hair grow longer makes me tick. haven't really done anything nice to my tresses when they were longer. so i fiddle with my hair and twirl it around my fingers more than ever now. im loving my new long hair. i feel feminine and sexy.

knowing ive came quite a full circle to where I want to be right now puts a small tick in my heart. it wasnt always easy but i made my point when i found a job im passionate about and convocated with some of my very good friends.

makeup makes me tick because i love colours so much. like paint on canvas, they are delightful to look at.

dance music makes me tick and jazz relaxes me. travels and foreign culture makes me tick. no matter how many times i travel, there is still that unmistakable breath of fresh air when you cross over to another zone.

above all, real love makes me tick, this warm sensation coursing through the vein, making me all tingly inside...is what i receive from friends and family and is no less mushy than the one you receive from your partners.

so what makes you tick?
